You're Closer Than You Think

Do you run, cycle or walk for fitness? Do you occasionally change your routine, making your route less predictable? I recently changed my cycling route and anticipated a much longer ride to the first landmark—but before I knew it, I was already there.

When you plan your run, cycle, workout or walk and you're all set to go the distance, do you start cartoon, on a mission with the belief that you'll achieve your plan? There are two ways that this is probable:
1) your goal is based on a past success, so you're confident that you can achieve this; or

Today I was riding my bicycle along trails and knew I was coming up to a sandy patch which always scares me. I must have wiped out one day or almost wiped out a long time ago and never quite got over it! I know my bike can ride through sand (at least this much) so I relaxed in the seat and rode on through.

Have you ever experienced this? What happened? Maybe you just rode over it with a little sliding under the tires, or you thought you might lose your balance, perhaps you noticed the sand and you went right over it, or maybe you took a spill?
